The University of Poitiers had the pleasure to be in charge of the organization of the International Summer School on European Multilingualism at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) from 30 June to 6 July 2019, as part of the Erasmus Plus KA107 mobility program.

57 students from the University of Sarajevo, the University of East Sarajevo, the University of Banja Luka, but also the universities of the Balkan region: the University of Novi Sad, the University of Nis (Serbia ), the University of Niksic (Montenegro), the University of Skopje (Macedonia) as well as the students of the Universities of CG (Granada) participated in this school co-organized with the University of Edinburgh, the University of Würzburg, University of Granada, and University of Salamanca, partner of the EC2U alliance.

 

The intensive short program offered courses in translation and applied languages in several small tandem groups:

  • French – Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
  • German – Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
  • Italian – Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
  • Russian – Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
  • Spanish – Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian

The Summer School teaching program proposed also a Language Discovering Workshop allowing all participants to learn about Less Widely Used and Lesser Taught languages (LWULT) and their important role in keeping language diversity and the world’s multilingual heritage. The intensive short programme offered two LWULT Workshops: Hebrew and Modern Greek

 

The academic staff representing the University of Poitiers, Sanja Boskovic, Department of Slavic Languages, coordinator of this school, and Freiderikos Valetopolous Department of French as a Foreign Language had the occasion to initiate more cooperations for the upcoming academic year 2020 / 2021.
