These scholarships cover short-term (1-month) stays for doctoral students and young researchers – from all scientific disciplines – from 3 geographical areas:

  • Latin America
  • Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Neighboring countries of the European Union (Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan)

Each year, the University of Poitiers offers one scholarship per geographical area.

How to apply?

Follow the procedure below:

  1. Identify a potential host laboratory
  2. Contact a referent teacher-researcher for your stay in this laboratory.
  3. Propose a research project to be studied by the teacher-researchers.
  4. If your project is accepted, you will receive a letter of support from the laboratory director.
  5. You will need to attach this letter to the application form to be completed directly on the Coimbra Group website.

The University of Poitiers will choose the winner from among the candidates who have finalized their applications on the Coimbra Group website.

To establish its selection, the commission of the University of Poitiers will:

  • take into account the applicant’s field of research,
  • ensure the rotation of the laboratories eligible for this grant to host a doctoral student/young researcher,
  • take care of the male/female balance.

The program is open until 31st March 2025.
