The University of Poitiers is developing a series of university courses on topics related to specific characteristics of the region (risk management, insurance, finance etc.), characterized by a strong tendency towards more vocational training.

5 departments of the University of Poitiers train 1,000 students who study at the Niort University Center (PUN): the Poitiers University Institute of Technology (IUT), the Institute of Industrial Risk, Insurance and Financial Risk (Iriaf), the College of Law and Social Sciences, the Institute of Business Administration (IAE) and the Teacher Training College (INSPE).

The Niort Campus offers courses and services to students in a privileged environment. Located on the banks of the beautiful Sèvre Niortaise river, the campus borders the Natura 2000 area of the Marais Poitevin and opens directly onto the Galuchet marshes, a natural area which combines the characteristic landscapes of wet marshes: meadows, reeds, woodlands etc.

Given its location the campus was of course built to respect the landscape quality of the site and its remarkable biodiversity.

The university restaurant “Le Marais”, managed by the CROUS, is open Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the PUN.

Accommodation

The university residence Henri-Georges Clouzot, managed by the CROUS, is located at the university. It includes 90 one and two-room furnished flats equipped with kitchenettes and individual sanitary facilities.

Health care and support

You can also use the university health service (nursing reception, medical appointments, social assistance etc.).

Sports and physical activities

The University Sports Activities Service (SUAPS) offers activities during the university year in Niort and also multi-day activity courses elsewhere in France (sailing, skiing etc.).

The city of Niort has a concert hall (the Moulin du Roc), a contemporary music center (the Camji), a contemporary photographic art center (Villa Pérochon) and a large events center (l’Acclameur). Throughout the year Niort hosts many sporting and cultural events.

L’IFSI

The University of Poitiers has joined the Niort Hospital Center to offer students in nursing studies a bachelor’s degree in nursing, in addition to the National Nursing Diploma.

Niort Urban Community

The Niort Urban Community (“Communauté d’Agglomération du Niortais”) provides financial support to the University of Poitiers for the deployment of its tertiary educational offer in and around Niort.
