The University of Poitiers boasts a rich and diversified heritage. There are 133 buildings on 13 different sites and 157 ha (≈ 388 acres) of land. There are private mansions dating from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, recently renovated buildings from the 1970s, modern and energy-efficient buildings. A diversity which enhances the heritage of the University of Poitiers.

In 2011, the University of Poitiers was one of the first three French universities to become the owner of its property assets. This devolution of assets has enabled the establishment to develop a global real estate strategy based on the DDRS (Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility).

The University of Poitiers also uses 23,084 m² (≈ 250,000 sq. ft.) of premises owned by local authorities. 41% of the space is dedicated to teaching, 20% to research and 39% to support and other functions.
