The easiest way to travel to Poitiers is to fly to Paris (aéroport Charles de Gaulles) and catch the train to Poitiers.

Directly from the airport

There are several direct trains from the aéroport Charles de Gaulles to Poitiers per day – however the last one leaves generally before 6pm.

From Gare Montparnasse

You can also catch a train from the Gare Montparnasse (overlooked by the famous Tour Montparnasse). Trains run regularly from 6am to 9pm.

To get to the Gare Montparnasse from there you should:

1. Catch the RER B – the station is located in the airport and goes directly into the centre of Paris.

Stop of at Denfert Rochereau (15 stops) . Price: €10.40 – 45 minutes

2. From Denfert Rochereau, catch the Metro line 6 (M6) towards Charles de Gaulle-Etoile.

Stop of at Montparnasse-Bienvenüe (2 stops in total). Price: €1.90 – 4 minutes

Poitiers is a small city and it is quite simple to get around.

For all activities in the city centre, travelling by foot is by far the easiest way.

The campus of the university of Poitiers, however, is more than a 40-minute walk away from the city centre.

The Ligne 1 is the direct bus from the city center to the university campus (which runs every 10 to 20 minutes):

– To get to the university campus: catch the bus at Notre Dame (towards Milétrie Patis) and get off at the stop Maison des étudiants.

– To get back to the center of town, catch the same bus Ligne 1 (towards Futuroscope). The recommended stops are the same.

Tickets can be bought directly at bus stops (2€ a one-way ticket).
