International Networks and Partners

Limousin Poitou-Charentes CUE


In order to strengthen their relations for the benefit of students, research activities and the local authorities, to develop joint discussions, come up with joint proposals and carry out joint actions, the universities of Limoges, Poitiers and La Rochelle, as well as the ISAE-ENSMA and ENSCI national engineering schools have joined forces within the Limousin Poitou-Charentes CUE (Inter-Regional Research and Higher Education Network), thus formalizing the numerous collaborative activities already existing between these institutions.

Thus the PRES Limousin Poitou-Charentes (with includes around 46,500 students and 5,900 staff and personnel in teaching, research, and administration in all disciplines), enjoys common facilities: laboratories, research federations, doctoral schools, digital university, empowering its member institutions with unprecedented collective leverage to increase their national and international visibility and reinforce their development strategies.

COIMBRA group

The University of Poitiers is proud to be a member of the Coimbra group, a network made up of the 40 oldest multidisciplinary universities of “enlarged” Europe: Aarhus (DK), Barcelona (ES), Bergen (NO), Bologna (IT), Bristol (UK), Budapest (HU), Cambridge (UK), Coimbra (PT), Dublin-Trinity (IE), Edinburgh (UK), Galway (IE), Geneva (CH), Göttingen (DE), Granada (ES), Graz (AT), Groningen (NL), Heidelberg (DE), Iaşi (RO), Istanbul (TR), Jena (DE), Kraków (PL), Leiden (NL), Leuven (BE), Leuven (BE), Lyons (FR), Montpellier (FR), Oxford (UK), Padova (IT), Pavia (IT), Poitiers (FR), Praha (CZ), St. Petersburg (RU), Salamanca (ES), Siena (IT), Tartu (EE), Thessaloniki (EL), Turku (FI), Uppsala (SE), Würzburg (DE), Åbo (FI). The network, created in 1985, was designed to influence the strategic choices of the European Community: the Coimbra group was notably the initiator of the ERASMUS program. The University of Poitiers is very active within the working groups (Task Forces) of the Coimbra Group and has close partnerships with other member universities, through participation in numerous European projects and specific mobility agreements (students and staff).

IRUN Network

IRUN (International Research University Network, is a network consisting of 10 European universities (Jagiellonian University PL, Pázmány Péter Catholic University HU, Radboud University Nijmegen NL, University of Barcelona SP, University of Duisburg-Essen, University of Glasgow UK, University of Ljubljana SI, University of Münster, University of Siena IT, University of Poitiers) created 5 years ago to foster exchanges of students, staff and good practice in the field of research. The University of Poitiers has always been very active in the IRUN network working groups hosting the network's annual meeting in 2013.

University Agency for Francophonia (AUF)

The University of Poitiers is an active member of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, which boasts 786 institutions in 98 countries. Since 1961, the AUF has brought together higher education and research institutions from the five continents which use French as the language of teaching and research. The AUF’s mission is to contribute to solidarity among French-speaking universities and to the development of a scientific area in French which respects the diversity of cultures and languages. The benefits of this membership for the University of Poitiers are reflected in partnerships with many French speaking universities, regularly leading to recognized international programs.

Institute of the Americas


The University of Poitiers is a member of the Institute of the Americas, founded in 2007 as a Scientific Interest Group. The Institute’s primary focus is to provide France with a central institution in Europe for the study of the American continent. It fosters active research on the Americas by hosting and supporting scientific events.

Institut Confucius

L'Institut Confucius de l'Université de Poitiers a été inauguré le 4 octobre 2005, il a pour vocation de faire connaître la langue et la culture chinoises et de faciliter les échanges culturels.
